General overview
What services do you provide?
We specialise in the design, supply, technical support and system commissioning of bespoke lighting, lighting controls, window treatments (shades/curtains) and Audio-Visual systems for high-end private residences, delivering solutions that are both technically exceptional and aesthetically refined.
Are your solutions fully bespoke?
Every project we undertake is entirely bespoke, carefully tailored to complement the architecture, interior design, and lifestyle of each client. This means we will meet to discuss how the home will be used, specific areas of interest to note such as artwork etc and the intended interior design style.
What areas do you cover?
We have no specific criteria of project location, whilst the vast majority of our projects are within 40 miles of our Chesham Buckinghamshire based Design Studio. We are therefore often designing around Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire and London. We have also delivered 3 international projects - please see our portfolio page.
Design and collaboration
How do you approach the design process?
Our process begins with a private consultation to understand your vision and requirements. We then develop a considered design that balances performance, atmosphere, and visual harmony.
Do you work alongside architects and interior designers?
Yes, we collaborate closely with leading architects, interior designers and the end client to ensure the project meets the highest standards possible and our intelligent systems integrate seamlessly into the wider design scheme.
Technology and experience
Smart Home & AV Systems
What is a whole house control system?
A whole house control system brings together multiple technologies such as lighting, audio, video, climate control, security, and shading into a single, easy-to-use interface.
Can the lighting be controlled via our tablet, Android and iPhone?
Yes, all of our controls systems provide smart phone/tablet standalone applications which are simple to access and use.
Part of our on site commissioning involves a demo of how to use the APP to ensure you can immediately utilise all the features and benefits the controls solution provides.
Can I control my entire home from one app?
Yes. A professionally designed control system can provide a single app for managing lighting, entertainment, heating, cooling, security, and other connected devices.
How does a whole house control system work?
The system acts as a central hub that communicates with compatible devices throughout the property, enabling seamless control through touchscreens, mobile devices, remotes, and voice commands.
What systems can be integrated into home automation?
Most systems can integrate lighting, blinds, heating, cooling, CCTV, alarms, access control, multi-room audio, home cinema, televisions, and network infrastructure.
Can I customise how the system works?
Absolutely. Every installation can be tailored to suit the homeowner's lifestyle, preferences, and the specific requirements of the property.
Can lighting and audio be controlled effortlessly?
Yes, all systems can be intuitively controlled via integrated smart home platforms, offering simple, elegant control at the touch of a button.
Do you offer immersive or multi-room audio experiences?
We design tailored audio environments, from subtle background soundscapes to fully immersive, cinema-quality experiences throughout the home.
Do I need a dedicated room for a home cinema?
No. While dedicated cinema rooms offer the best experience, many systems can be installed in living rooms, media rooms, or open-plan spaces.
Can I hide speakers and equipment?
Yes. Speakers can often be installed in ceilings, walls, or furniture, and equipment can be housed discreetly in cupboards or dedicated racks.
What smart security features are available?
Smart security systems can include CCTV cameras, video doorbells, smart locks, alarm systems, motion detection, and remote monitoring capabilities.
Can smart home technology help reduce energy bills?
Yes. Smart thermostats, automated lighting, occupancy
sensors, and energy monitoring tools can help reduce unnecessary energy
consumption and lower utility costs.
Can I control my smart home from anywhere?
Yes. Most modern smart home systems allow secure remote access via a smartphone,
tablet, or web portal, enabling you to monitor and control your home wherever
you are.
What happens if the internet connection fails?
Our professionally installed systems continue to operate locally within the home, although remote access features may be temporarily unavailable.
Smart Lighting & Automated Shades
What are the benefits of smart lighting control?
Smart lighting control gives you greater flexibility over your home's lighting, allowing you to create customised scenes, automate schedules, reduce energy usage, and enhance the overall ambience of your property.
What is Lutron lighting control?
Lutron lighting control is a smart lighting system that allows you to manage lights, dimmers, keypads, schedules, and automated scenes from a single interface, helping improve comfort, convenience, and energy efficiency.
How does Lutron differ from standard light switches?
Unlike traditional switches that simply turn lights on and off, Lutron systems allow precise dimming, scene control, scheduling, and integration with other smart home technologies.
Can I control my lights from my smartphone?
Yes. Lutron and other smart lighting systems allow you to control individual lights, rooms, or entire properties from a dedicated mobile app, whether you're at home or away.
What are lighting scenes?
Lighting scenes are pre-programmed settings that adjust multiple lights simultaneously to create a specific mood or function, such as "Movie Night," "Dinner," "Relax," or "Away Mode."
How does lighting control improve home security?
Scheduled lighting and occupancy simulation can make a property appear occupied while you're away, helping deter potential intruders.
What are automated blinds and shades?
Automated blinds and shades are motorised window treatments that can be controlled via app, keypad, voice command, or programmed schedules.
Can Lutron lighting and shades work together?
Yes. Lutron systems can synchronise lighting and shading control, allowing both systems to respond together to schedules, scenes, and occupancy settings.
What types of shades are available?
Options typically include roller blinds, Roman blinds, honeycomb shades, blackout blinds, sheer shades, roof light / skylight shades and curtain track systems, all available with motorised control.
Can smart shades help reduce energy bills?
Yes. Automated shades can help regulate indoor temperatures by reducing solar heat gain in summer and improving insulation during colder months.
Are motorised blinds noisy?
Modern motorised shading systems are designed to operate quietly and smoothly, making them suitable for bedrooms, living spaces, and home cinemas.
Are smart lighting and shading systems worth the investment?
Many homeowners find that the added convenience, comfort, energy savings, aesthetics, and property value benefits make smart lighting and shading systems a worthwhile investment.
Will a whole house control system increase property value?
Many buyers view professionally installed smart home technology as a desirable feature that can enhance a property's appeal and marketability.
How much maintenance does a home automation system require?
Ongoing maintenance is generally minimal, although periodic software updates, system checks, and support services help ensure long-term reliability.
Why choose a professional installer for lighting and shading control?
A professional installer ensures the system is correctly designed, programmed, integrated, and commissioned, delivering reliable performance and a user-friendly experience from day one.
Installation and project management
How is the installation managed?
Our experienced team provide the information required, through our detailed designs, to enable the chosen installation to deliver a precise and well executed standard of workmanship. The program, installation and project management on site is therefore undertaken by the installing contractor.
Privacy and discretion
How do you ensure client confidentiality?
We understand the importance of privacy and operate with complete discretion and confidentiality, please see our portfolio page where several projects are classified as Private Client as an example of this practice. We never use social media to showcase projects without the specific permission of our clients, which again is transparent on our Instagram page.
Pricing and service
How are projects costed?
Following our initial consultation, we provide a detailed and transparent fixed-fee proposal tailored to your specific requirements, project scope, and desired level of finish.
As every project is unique, our fee is calculated based on the individual design and technical requirements of the scheme. The quoted fee covers all design work, including revisions and ongoing collaboration throughout the design process.
There are no additional charges unless the project undergoes a fundamental change in scope or direction that requires the design process to be restarted from the beginning. In our experience, this is extremely rare and has never occurred on a project we have delivered.
Do you offer site visits?
Should additional site visits be required for matters that cannot be effectively resolved via phone or online meetings, these can be arranged and are charged at our standard hourly rate. In practice, this is rarely necessary, as most installers and contractors prefer to utilise our complimentary remote technical support service.
Aftercare and ongoing support
Do you provide ongoing support?
We offer dedicated aftercare and maintenance services to all lighting and audio visual control solutions that we provide, ensuring your system continues to perform flawlessly over time. Please enquire for more information.
Will I receive training on how to use the system?
Yes, we provide a personalised handover, ensuring you are entirely comfortable with the operation of your system.
What if I require adjustments after installation?
We always leave control systems fully operational at handover and typically return after 2-3 weeks to carry out any fine-tuning or any adjustments required. This allows time for you to live with the system, become familiar with its operation, and identify any changes that would enhance day-to-day usability.
As your requirements evolve over time, we remain available to refine, expand, and adapt your system to suit your changing needs. Additional commissioning visits can be arranged on either a half-day or full-day basis; please contact us for current rates and availability.
Availability
How far in advance should I engage your services?
The most successful projects are the ones where clients engage us early, particularly for large or architecturally complex projects, to ensure seamless integration from the outset. Designs should commence before ground is broken on site.
